NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Boise State linebacker J.C.
Percy has been named to the 2012 Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List, an award
that honors the top collegiate defensive player in the country.
Percy, a rising redshirt senior from Blackfoot, Idaho, is a three-time
conference all-academic selection and the Broncos’ top-returning
tackler, registering 48 (19 solo) in 2011. He has appeared in each of
the Broncos’ 40 games since his debut season in 2009, finishing as the
team’s second-leading tackler both his freshman and sophomore season.
Also a special teams standout, Percy was named the co-recipient of Boise
State’s Special Teams Player of the Year Award following the 2011
season.
He is one of 42 student-athletes on the watch list, and one of 18
linebackers. He is also one of only two student-athletes from the
Mountain West.
This is the ninth year that the IMPACT Foundation has recognized
student-athletes throughout the nation who have had the biggest IMPACT
on their teams both on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for
Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity,
characteristics that Ronnie Lott exhibited throughout his brilliant Hall
of Fame career at both USC and in the National Football League.
The Lott Trophy has now donated more than $900,000 to charities since
its inception in 2004, including $327,000 to 28 different universities.
Past winners of the Lott Trophy include David Pollack (Georgia, 2004),
DeMeco Ryans (Alabama, 2005), Dante Hughes (California, 2006), Glenn
Dorsey (LSU, 2007), James Laurinaitis (Ohio State, 2008), Jerry Hughes
(TCU, 2009), J.J. Wyatt (Wisconsin, 2010) and Luke Kuechly (Boston
College, 2012).
