Week One: Louisiana versus Lamar

Lamar at Louisiana-Lafayette: This is a matchup of Lamar of the Southland Conference in the FCS and Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns of the Sun Belt.

The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off of their most successful season in FBS history with a 9-4 record including a last-second win over San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl. Louisiana finished the 2011 season with 394 yards per game on offense ranking them 51st nationally in total offense. The Ragin' Cajuns scored 32.3 points per game on offense. the Ragin' Cajun defense struggled more on defense giving up 399 yards per game and nearly 30 points per game but forced 23 turnovers. The Lamar Cardinals finished 4-7 in 11 games played last fall with a 22-point loss to new Sun Belt member South Alabama. The Cardinals scored 25.6 points per game but gave up a gaudy 39.1 points per game to opponents. Lamar gave up 30 or more points in 8 of the 11 games last season. Louisiana must prove that last season was not a fluke but have a very favorable matchup in this week one game. Expect the Ragin' Cajuns to roll in this FBS-FCS matchup.
