starter after starting all 10 games in 2011 with over 2100 yards passing and
285 on the ground. Junior Tucker Carter and redshirt freshman Ryan Polite look
to be the backups going into the fall which is surprising considering that puts
sophomore John Simmons on the outside looking in to the quarterback battle.

Morgan is the backup to Moeller but is the more dynamic receiver that can get
big yards after the catch and stretch the secondary. Demetrius Baker and Austin
Rushing look to push for playing time. The wild card is freshman Jordan Gray
who has the size to be an effective blocker for the running game.

Sanchez, Berry, Starling, Brown,
and Wade are the starters for the Roadrunner secondary with a combined 27
starts in 2011. All are solid players that will allow the UTSA defense to make
some solid plays and keep them
competitive. The confusing omission of the secondary depth chart is Nic
Johnston who started all 10 games in 2011 with a secondary leading 59 tackles.
Adekeye, Wyche, Scott, King and Thorn all look to get some playing time on
defense or special teams this fall.
K

stats in 2011
Kristian Stern is the leading
candidate for the punting job after averaging 40.9 yards per punt with 5
landing inside the 20 yard line. Josh Ward is attempting to fight Stern for the
job but does not quite have the leg to take the job as evidenced by his 35.1
yard punt average.
LS
#59 Jesse Medrano DS 5-8 200 So.-1L San Antonio, Texas (Jay HS)--8
games played. No stats in 2011.
Overall, the expectation for the
Roadrunners cannot be too inflated considering this is their first season in
I-A football. Even so, there are 6 winnable games for the Roadrunners as well
as a couple of conference games that are winnable. Realistically, 5 wins would
be outstanding although 4 seems much more reasonable.
