Joshua Anderson RB Douglasville, GA South Paulding 5'11" 230--TROY

Monday was a very busy recruiting day with 10 commitments. Sun Belt power Troy was the big winner with three commitments from the state of Georgia at three separate high schools. Marshall may have gotten the best prospect with Boca Raton, Florida quarterback Kevin Anderson who is a Rivals 3-star player. 3-star wide receiver James Cox of Tuscaloosa, Alabama turned down three SEC offers to join the Golden Eagles offensive unit. Under the radar Murrieta, California product Nick Stevens chose Colorado State over Utah State and could be a solid player for the Rams.

7/31/12
Dewan Edmonson DT Manvel, TX Manvel 6'2" 255 2 stars--UTEP
Desmond King DB Detroit, MI Crockett 5'11" 170 3 stars--BALL STATE
Andre Turner DE Harper Woods, MI Chandler Park Academy 6'4" 220--WESTERN MICHIGAN
Will Trevillion DT Buda, TX Hays 6'1" 280 2 stars--TEXAS STATE

Lenicio Noble OL Phoenix, AZ Phoenix C.C. 6'3" 285--SAN DIEGO STATE
Chris Flaig OL Vero Beach, FL Vero Beach 6'5" 285 2 stars--FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL

While Texas State pulled in two solid recruits including 2-star defensive tackle Will Trevillion, the team of the day was Ball State who got the verbal commitment of 3-star defensive back Desmond King. King, of Detroit, Michigan, recently pulled in an offer from Big Ten team Wisconsin but decided that the Cardinals of Ball State were a better fit for his talents. Dewan Edmonson of Manvel, Texas is a 2-star defensive tackle that decided that UTEP was the school for him with only marginal offers so far. Florida International pulled in a commitment from 2-star offensive lineman Chris Flaig from Vero Beach, Florida to make up for the huge losses from a senior dominated line. Flaig held 5 other offers at the time.

8/1/12
Adam Kulon Jr. DE Algonquin, IL Jacobs 6'5" 240 2 stars--TOLEDO
Daniel Garces DE Charlotte, NC Providence 6'2" 223--BALL STATE
Wyndell Archie TE Saraland, AL Saraland 6'2" 235--TROY

In a lighter day of commitments, Toledo beat out 5 other MAC schools for the services of 2-star defensive end Adam Kulon Junior. Kulon has the ability to come in and get significant playing time as a freshman in 2013. Troy kept the recruiting  momentum going with their 4th commitment in 2 days with tight end Wyndell Archie of Saraland, Alabama. Archie was the first player from Saraland High School to commit to a FBS school.

8/2/12
Jeremiah Gaines TE Red Oak, TX Red Oak 6'3" 235 3 stars--SMU

Tight end Jeremiah Gaines of Red Oak, Texas was the only commitment of the day with the SMU Mustangs pulling in the 3-star player. Gaines is the 69th ranked player in the football hotbed of Texas high school football. Gaines turned down offers from Arizona State, California, Iowa, Mississippi, and Mississippi State to name a few.

8/3/12
Josh Bass OL Battle Creek, MI Harper Creek 6'5" 285--EASTERN MICHIGAN
Mitch Kimble QB Jerseyville, IL Jersey Cmnty 6'3" 190--NORTHERN ILLINOIS

Friday was a slow day for commitments with Rivals unranked Josh Bass and Mitch Kimble both committing to MAC schools. Bass stayed in state and pledged his services to Eastern Michigan and coach Ron English. Bass has college size but is a bit of a project for the coaching staff. Quarterback Mich Kimble also stayed in state committing to Northern Illinois. Kimble fits in the mold of former quarterback Chandler Harnish with his ability to do nearly as much damage running the ball as throwing. He should not come in and play immediately but could be a very good player after some time in the program.

8/4/12
Jonathan Barnes K Baton Rouge, LA Woodlawn 5'10" 155--LA TECH
Brandon Porter RB River Ridge, LA John Curtis 5'11" 185 2 stars--SAN DIEGO STATE
Dondrell Harris  ATH Panama City, FL Rutherford 5'11" 180--TROY

In a bit of a coup, San Diego State came into Louisiana and pulled a commitment from 2-star running back Brandon Porter. The Aztecs may have to fight some strong competition to keep Porter's services if Porter has a strong senior year at John Curtis High School. Kicker Jonathan Barnes decided to stay in state and commit to Louisiana Tech giving the Bulldogs a good kicking prospect for their move to Conference USA. The Troy Trojans pulled in their 5th commitment of the week with Panama City, Florida athlete Dondrell Harris. Troy is quietly building a strong class with under the radar players.

8/5/12
Isaiah Jones WR Austin, TX Austin 6'1" 170 2 stars--EAST CAROLINA
Delvin Batiste DB Upland, CA Upland 5'11" 180--SAN DIEGO STATE
Trey Lomax DB San Diego, CA Mira Mesa 5'11" 175--SAN DIEGO STATE
Addison Morrow ATH San Diego, CA Mira Mesa 6'0" 170--SAN DIEGO STATE
Billy Vaughn Jr. DB Los Angeles, CA Hamilton 6'1" 186--SAN DIEGO STATE
Xavier Hines DB Miami, FL Belen Jesuit Prep 6'0" 175 3 stars--FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
Troy McCollum DB Miami, FL North 6'0" 170 3 stars--FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL
Simeon Thomas DB Miami Gardens, FL Carol City 6'3" 173 3 stars--FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL

Sunday was a wild day of commitments with San Diego State pulling in 4 and Florida International pulling in three. None of the four commitments for San Diego State are ranked by rivals but are a group of solid defensive players that will bring much needed depth to the Aztec secondary. Florida International's group of three to commit for 2013 pulled in three 3-star players for the secondary. Defensive back Xavier Hines is a 3-star defensive back out of Miami, Florida that had 5 other offers when committing to stay in Miami and play in Conference USA in 2013 for the Golden Panthers. Troy McCollum, also of Miami, turned down 16 other offers including 2 from the SEC and will be a player to watch in the Golden Panther secondary in the future. Simeon Thomas of Miami Gardens, Florida also decided to stay close to home with a commitment to FIU. Thomas seemed to want to stay home and with local Miami school Florida International offering, Thomas jumped at the chance to play in Conference USA for the Golden Panthers.

Overall, 34 players decided to commit this week with San Diego State pulling in 7 of those commitments. With everyone going to fall camp, commitments may die down slightly but should pick up in a few weeks as players start to make official visits on gameday weekends.
