Overall Breakdown: The Central Michigan Chippewas are 1-1 after a harder than expected game versus I-AA South Carolina State followed by a loss to Kentucky in which the Chippewas threw for nearly 300 yards and dominated the entire first half leading at the break 13-6. The offense is passing efficiently but struggling to run the football only averaging 88 yards on the ground through 2 games. CMU is outscoring their opponents by 0.5 points per game which will have to improve to get a real bowl shot. The Chippewas have a tough road test at #15 Michigan State on September 24th and really need this in-state win to have a chance at a bowl in 2011. Western Michigan is also 1-1 after 2 games with a win over I-AA Nicholls State preceded by a rain shortened loss to the Michigan Wolverines. With trips to Illinois and Connecticut on the horizon, the Broncos must use their balanced attack featuring junior quarterback Alex Carder to beat CMU and get the Broncos revenge they most desperately want. This should be quite a game with Central Michigan winning the last 5 matchups but every game competitive. This could be the year that the Broncos break that streak and come out of week 3 with a 2-1 record. Western Michigan 27-24.
