Week 5 Top 10

1. Ohio (4-0, 0-0)--The Ohio Bobcats ended their out of conference play with a resounding win over the FCS' Norfolk State. The Bobcats have outscored opponents by 18 points per game on the season and are top 50 in both passing and rushing the football. Previous: Defeated Norfolk State 44-10, Next: @Massachusetts.

2. Louisiana Tech (3-0, 0-0)--Louisiana Tech improved their record to 3-0 with a dominant win over Big Ten foe Illinois. The Bulldogs are 3rd in the nation in scoring with 54.7 points scored per game led by quarterback Colby Cameron who is putting up just over 300 yards per game and nearly 3 passing touchdowns per game. Previous: Defeated Illinois 52-24, Next: @Virginia.

3. Boise State (2-1, 0-0)--The Boise State Broncos improved to 2-1 with a hard fought last second win over BYU. The Broncos stopped a 2-point conversion attempt by the Cougars to seal the 7-6 victory on Thursday night. The Broncos have only allowed 11.7 points per game this season. Previous: Defeated BYU 7-6, Next: @New Mexico.

4. Toledo (3-1, 1-0)--A sloppy game but another strong performance by quarterback Terrance Owens allowed Toledo to move to 3-1 with a 38-28 win over Coastal Carolina. The Rockets are the 33rd ranked passing team in the nation with 277 yards per game. Previous: Defeated Coastal Carolina 38-28, Next: @Western Michigan

5. Nevada (3-1, 1-0)--Behind the rushing of national leader Stefphon Jefferson, the Wolfpack cruised to a 69-24 win over the ailing Hawaii Warriors. Jefferson has 699 yards rushing and 11 touchdowns on the season leading the nation in both categories. No one else has more than 7 rushing touchdowns on the season. Previous: Defeated Hawaii 69-24, Next: @Texas State.

6. Tulsa (3-1, 1-0)--In an evenly matched game, the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes won their third game of the season 27-26 over Fresno State. Tulsa is going out things differently this fall riding the 17th ranked rushing attack in the country with 245 yards rushing per game. The Golden Hurricanes are 18th nationally with 40.3 points scored per game. Previous: Defeated Fresno State 27-26, Next: @UAB.

7. Northern Illinois (3-1, 0-0)--Quarterback Jordan Lynch has settled in well as the signal caller after a rough opening game versus Iowa and kept the Huskies settled as one of the top MAC teams. The Huskies do not do anything incredible but do everything solid but still struggle to keep opponents out of the end zone. Previous: Defeated Kansas 30-23, Next: Central Michigan.

8. Western Kentucky (3-1, 0-0)--The Hilltoppers ended non-conference play with a statement game blowing out Southern Miss 42-17 in Bowling Green behind a potent rushing attack and strong defense. The Hilltoppers are top 20 nationally in yards allowed and have the 36th ranked rushing attack in the country. Quarterback Kawaun Jakes is on pace to shatter his previous season passing the football. Previous: Defeated Southern Miss 42-17, Next: @Arkansas State

9. Brigham Young (2-2)--The Brigham Young Cougars dropped to 2-2 with a loss to Boise State thursday and have lost those two games by a combined 4 points. A play here and a play there and the Cougars are undefeated and the #1 team in this poll. Nevertheless, I had to drop them to 9th with all of the good teams with only one loss. Previous: Lost to Boise State 7-6, Next: Hawaii.

10. Utah State (3-1, 0-0)--The Utah State Aggies moved to 3-1 with an ugly 31-19 win over the Colorado State Rams Satruday. The Aggies are riding an excellent defense that has only allowed 14.5 points per game, good for 20th nationally. Utah State is a few sloppy plays versus Wisconsin from being undefeated on the year. Previous: Defeated Colorado State 31-19, Next: UNLV.

Outside looking in: Louisiana, Arkansas State, Marshall, Louisiana Monroe
