Tulsa University

Type of Offense: Spread.  Zone read running plays and nearly all passing plays from the shotgun formation.  There is rare to no use of a fullback.  Tight End is used primarily as a blocking back (extra OL).  Nearly all runs are made by the RB and QB save the occasional end around with the WR.

Type of Defense: 3-3-5 Stack. This is a finesse attacking style of defense that only uses 3 DL in order to give defensive players room to work. There are 1-2 people blitzing on every play allowing the defense to attempt to dictate play. The rushing game with power can give this defense trouble but it is Taylor-made to defend the spread.

• Run/Pass %: 53/47
• Run/Pass Attempts: 537/469
• Points Per Game: 41.4
• Points Allowed Per Game: 30.3

Key Returning Players:
• Kinne, QB: 1st team all-conference in 2010 at the QB spot with 561 yards rushing with 7 TDs and 3650 passing with 31 TDs. Widely expected to be in the running for 1st team honors again in 2011.
• Johnson, WR: 1st team all-conference at punt returner and 2nd team all-conference at WR had 872 yards receiving; a 12.7 yard average on punt returns with 1 TD, and a 26.6 yard kickoff return average with 1 TD. Could get to 1000 yards receiving in 2011 and have a chance at 1st team WR honors.

Key Incoming Freshmen:
• Kenyarn Garrett, WR: This 3 star WR from Texas runs a 4.6 40 yard dash making him a great target considering he is also 6-4 and 185 pounds. He is physically ready to play on the college level and as soon as the mental part clicks, he will be a very good player in the system.
• Garrett Gladd, OL: This 3 star offensive lineman from Oklahoma is 6-4 and 280 pounds giving him size to possibly compete on the offensive line as a freshman. May sit in 2011 so that they can have him for 4 years with the opportunity to start from a redshirt freshman season till a senior.

Overall Assessment:
Lost 3 games and destroyed Hawaii in the Hawaii bowl in 2010 putting a cap on a very good season. A very tough out of conference schedule with a trip to Oklahoma, a trip to Boise, and a home game versus Oklahoma State. They had 3 first team all-conference members and 2 second team all-conference members on the team. They have a chance to make it to the conference title game but have to get through the tough start to the season before they even think about that. Best case scenario is winning 2 of three of the big games and going 10-2 in the regular season which is highly unlikely but could happen. Most likely they will lose at least 2 of 3 of those games and lose 1 or 2 conference games putting them at 8-4 or maybe 9-3 in 2011.
