Overall Breakdown: Ohio had a surprising 2010 season scoring almost 4 more points per game than their opponents last fall. While they couldn’t beat an offensively potent Troy squad in their bowl matchup, 2010 was a success. The offense should improve somewhat and give the Bobcats a chance to have an even better record in 2011 and a return trip to a bowl game. New Mexico State was one of the worst teams in college football in 2010. The two teams that the Aggies beat were 1-11 and 1-12 respectively and also two of the worst teams in the country as well. The Aggies were outscored by almost 24 points per game with an offense that struggled to get to 300 yards per game and only averaged 15.4 points per game. 9 of the 10 losses were by 20 points or more with the Utah State game being the only real chance New Mexico State had for a 3rd win in 2010. There is no reason to believe that New Mexico State will be much improved in 2011 or for that matter even be able to compete with Ohio in the season opener. The only hope that the Aggies have is if the offense of the Ohio Bobcats struggles in the season opener and allows the Aggies to hang around until the 4th quarter. Realistically, the score will be something along the lines of 45-7 or 35-10 with Ohio cruising to a season opening win on the road.
