San Diego State, a brief look

San Diego State (8-5, 4-3)--The Aztecs were one of the more disappointing non-big 6 teams in 2011. The were expected to contend for a Mountain West Title and give Boise State and TCU a run for their money as the best non-big 6 team in the nation. Those plans never materialized in a season that saw the Aztecs lose 5 times versus bowl teams. The Aztecs lose senior quarterback Ryan Lindley and red shirt sophomore running back Ronnie Hillman due to graduation and early entry to the NFL draft. Since the season ended, a running back was dismissed and a defensive end may face a multi-game suspension for a fight on campus. If a quarterback can step up and make up for the loss of Lindley, the Aztecs can be a decent team. If a running back steps in the shoes of Hillman, things could really be good for the Aztecs. Overall, this is a rebuilding year and SDSU should not be one of the top 10 non-big 6 teams in the country.
