QB
#15 Kolton Browning QB 6-1 198 Jr. Mabank, Texas
(Mabank HS)--12 games played. 12 starts. 143 carries for 443 yards and 5 TD.
244-419 passing for 2483 yards and 13 TD. 1 tackle.
#14 Cody Wells QB 5-11 193 Sr.
Hoover, Ala. (Spain Park HS)--11 games played. 14 carries for 23 yards. 30-52
passing for 368 yards and 3 TD. 1 catch for 6 yards.
#16 Ian McCoig QB 6-1 218 So.
Georgetown, Texas (Georgetown HS)--1 game played. 0-1 passing.
#06 Earnest Carrington QB 6-1
218 R-Fr. Humble, Texas (Atascocita HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
#12 Brayle Brown QB 6-1 184
R-Fr. Shawnee, Okla. (Shawnee HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
Junior quarterback Kolton
Browning will lead the offense after starting all 12 games in 2011 and throwing
for almost 2500 yards last season. Senior Cody Wells will be the backup but
tends to find his way into games in spells. Wells will get some time on the
field in some way. McCoig, Carrington, and Brown are all quarterbacks of the
future for the Warhawks.
RB
#07 Jyruss Edwards RB 5-11 196 Jr. White Castle,
La. (White Castle HS)--12 games played. 11 starts. 143 carries for 667 yards
and 11 TD. 31 catches for 203 yards and 1 TD.18 kickoff returns for 19.3 yard
average.
#05 Centarius Donald RB 6-1 214
Jr. Columbia, La. (Caldwell Parish HS)--7 games played. 59 carries for 414
yards and 3 TD. 5 catches for 43 yards. 1 tackle.
#32 Mitchell Bailey RB 6-0 219
Sr. Broken Bow, Okla. (Arkansas) (Broken Bow HS)--12 games played. 1 start. 64
carries for 212 yards and 2 TD. 7 catches for 79 yards and 1 TD. 3 kickoff
returns for 20.3 yard average. 9 tackles. 1 forced fumble.
#20 Carl Elie RB 5-8 191 Sr. Immokalee,
Fla. (Immokalee HS)--4 games played in 2011.
#02 Monterrell Washington RB 5-10
199 Jr. Bryan, Texas (Bryan HS)--No stats in 2011.
#28 DeVontae McNeal RB 5-10 205
R-Fr. Quitman, Texas (Quitman HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
Junior Jyruss Edwards will be the
lead rusher for the Warhawks in 2012 after starting 11 of 12 games in 2011.
Edwards is the most all-purpose of the backs with over 30 catches as well.
Junior Centarius Donald and senior Mitchell Bailey will split the carries
spelling Edwards and both have a more bruising style although Donald is more
elusive and more likely to break a long touchdown run. Elie and Washington do
not look to factor into the 2012 season. Redshirt DeVontae McNeal looks to be
the running back of the future and seems to be in the mold of starter Jyruss
Edwards.
TE
#80 Keavon Milton TE 6-4 288 Sr. Canton, Texas
(Canton HS)--8 games played in 2011.
#82 Kevin Steed TE 6-3 231 Jr.
Lithia Springs, Ga. (Lithia Springs HS)--12 games played. 1 start. 5 catches
for 39 yards and 1 TD.
#88 Harley Scioneaux TE 6-5 234
R-Fr. Reserve, La. (St. Charles Catholic HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
#?? Alec Osborne TE 6-2 220 Fr.
Geismar, La. (Dutchtown HS)--Incoming Freshman.
#?? Nick Jones TE 6-3 245 Fr.
Brownsboro, Texas (Brownsboro HS)--Incoming Freshman.
Senior Keavon Milton looks to get
the starting spot as the tight end is basically used as another lineman and do
not catch many, if any passes. Milton is like another tackle at 6-4, 288 pounds
and can set the edge for the running game. Junior Kevin Steed is smaller and
more athletic and is a better catcher than Milton. Scioneaux could steal some
playing time if the Warhawks run more tight end formations in 2012. Osborne and
Jones both look to be redshirted in 2012.
WR
#18 Brent Leonard WR 6-2 185 Sr. Keller, Texas
(Keller HS)--12 games played. 12 starts. 69 catches for 751 yards and 4 TD.
#08 Tavarese Maye WR 6-0 173 Jr. Petal, Miss.
(Petal HS)--12 games played. 9 starts. 9 carries for 40 yards and 1 TD. 50
catches for 617 yards and 3 TD.
#13 Colby Harper WR 6-0 180 So. Wylie, Texas
(Wylie HS)--12 games played. 9 starts. 1 carry for 1 yard. 27 catches for 291
yards and 2 TD. 1 tackle.
#86 Je'Ron Hamm WR 6-3 208 Jr.
Leesville, La. (Leesville HS)--12 games played. 17 catches for 257 yards and 1
TD.
#84 Julian Griffin WR 6-1 206
Sr. Gladewater, Texas (Gladewater HS)--9 games played. 1 catch for 7 yards.
#19 Tyler Cain WR 5-8 180 So.
West Monroe, La. (West Monroe HS)--9 games played. 10 punt returns for 1.9 yard
average. 1 kickoff return for 11 yards.
#81 Rashon Ceaser WR 5-11 174 R-Fr.
Clinton, La. (East Feliciana HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
#96 Rashaud Bell WR 6-4 223
R-Fr. Atlanta, Ga. (South Atlanta HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
#85 Trevor Lowery WR 5-8 176
R-Fr. Bossier City, La. (Parkway HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
#?? Tony Cook WR 6-4 180 Fr.
DeSoto, Texas (DeSoto HS)--Incoming Freshman.
#22 Cortney Davis WR 5-9 176 R-Fr.
Gladewater, Texas (Gladewater HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
#?? Ajalen Holley WR 5-11 185
Fr. Hot Springs, Ark. (Lakeside HS)--Incoming Freshman.
#?? Cameron Oliver WR 6-2 180
Fr. Richardson, Texas (Canyon Creek Christian Academy)--Incoming Freshman.
#83 Nico Talbert WR 5-6 159
R-Fr. Baton Rouge, La. (Redemptorist HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
In an offense that runs alot of 3 and 4 wide receiver sets, the wide
receiver position is very important to the Warhawk offense. Senior Brent
Leonard is the leading returning receiver with 69 catches. Junior Tavarese Maye
had 50 catches as well as getting involved in the running game with 9 rushes.
Sophomore Colby Harper added 27 catches last season as well. Look for Je'Ron
Hamm to be the 4th receiver and there is a large group of redshirt and true
freshmen that will compete to get playing time this fall.
OL
#67 Jeremy Burton LT 6-2 314 So. Muskogee, Okla.

Olive Branch, Miss. (Byhalia HS)--Incoming Freshman.
#?? Jack Mervin OL 6-5 270 Fr.
New Orleans, La. (De La Salle HS)--Incoming Freshman.
According to the coaching depth
chart, there is one major surprise so far. Sophomore Joseph Treadwell who
started all 12 games in 2011 is listed as the backup to sophomore Jeremy
Burton. This could be a battle all summer and possibly a wake-up call for Treadwell
that he will have to work to continue starting this fall. Risenhoover, Allen
and Gill take care of the middle of the line and have a combined 24 starts in
2011 making the middle of the line very experienced. Sophomore Demiere Burkett
is the projected starter at right tackle although very inexperienced. Three of
the five backups have experience although the three incoming freshmen may come
in and fight for spots on the depth chart.
DE
#91 Kentarius Caldwell DE 6-2 266 Jr.
Richardson, Texas (Berkner HS)--12 games played. 12 starts. 27 tackles, 5.5 for
loss. 3.5 sacks, 4 pbu, 4 pd.

Texas (Whitehouse HS)--12 games played. 7 tackles, 1 for loss.
#98 Malcolm Edmond DE 6-1 271

#?? Jeff Savage DE 6-3 270 Fr.

#?? Diontre Thomas DE 6-1 240
Fr. Denton, Texas (Guyer HS)--Incoming Freshman.
#?? Jacob Tyson DE 6-1 230 Fr.
West Monroe, La. (West Monroe HS)--Incoming Freshman.
In the 3-3-5 defense of the
Warhawks, the defensive line must have some strong players that can control the
line of scrimmage to be successful. Junior Kentarius Caldwell is the main
returner with starting all 12 games in 2011 making 27 tackles and 3.5 sacks. No
other players returning have made any starts on the college level. Redshirt
freshman Gerrand Johnson is the projected starter at nose tackle after
redshirting in 2011. Sophomore Joey Gautney looks to control the other
defensive end position after playing in all 12 games as a true freshman in
2011. Edmond, Jefferies, Lievle, and Nard all played some in 2011 and should be
in the rotation.
LB
#45 DaCorris Ford LB 6-1 226 Sr. Longview, Texas
(Longview HS)--12 games played. 1 kickoff return for -3 yards. 13 tackles, 2.5

sacks, 1 interception, 1 pd, 1 forced fumble.
#51 R.J. Young LB 5-11 240 Sr.
DeSoto, Texas (University of Arizona) (DeSoto HS)--12 games played. 12 starts.
45 tackles, 6.5 for loss. 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, 2 forced fumbles.

#?? Tevyn Cagins LB 6-1 190 Fr.
Lafitte, La. (Fisher HS)--Incoming Freshman.
With only three returning
linebackers having any playing experience, it is a bit of a surprise to see
senior linebacker RJ Young as a backup on the depth chart after starting all 12
games in 2011. Senior DaCorris Ford is the current starter on the outside and
played well in limited activity in 2011. Austin Moss starts in the middle after
not getting any playing time last season. Senor Cameron Blakes started all 12
games last season and had a solid 50 tackles for the Warhawks in 2011. There is
a large group of players that were redshirted last season and could work
themselves onto the depth chart this fall.
DB
#27 Vincent Eddie CB 5-8 157 Jr. Desoto, Texas

#47 Devon White S 6-0 193 R-Fr.
New Orleans, La. (McDonogh 35 HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
With a defense that utilizes 5
defensive backs on a regular basis, it is important to have alot of talent and
depth in the secondary. Two of the starting defensive backs (Eddie and Newsome)
started 11 games in 2011 making them default leaders of the secondary.
Peterson, Mitchell, and Smith round out the secondary with only Mitchell making
any starts last season. There is a large group of players trying to work into
the rotation in the secondary with 9 incoming freshmen and 3 redshirt freshmen
among the mix. Expect the battle for playing time in the secondary to be the
most exciting this summer and early fall.
LS
#46 Madison Tharp DS 6-0 210
Jr. Albertville, Ala. (Albertville HS)--12 games played. 2 tackles.
Junior Madison Tharp will be
snapping for special teams again this fall after snapping in all 12 games last
season. He is a good snapper that will only improve as he gets another year of
practice in the future.
K
#17 Justin Manton K 6-2 186 So.
Prairieville, La. (St. Amant HS)--12 games played. 6-14 on field goals. Long of
43 yards. 2 were blocked. 2-10 from over 30 yards. 53 kickoffs, 0 touchbacks.
Sophomore Justin Manton struggled
last season as a true freshman only connecting on 6 of his 14 field goal
attempts. Manton was 4-4 from 20-29 yards looking good in those kicks but only
making 2-10 field goals from 30+ yards. Manton must improve this fall or the
Warhawks will have to go for it more often on 4th downs taking points off the
score board in 2012.
P
#24 Conner Fryoux P 5-8 182 So.
Gonzales, La. (Dutchtown HS)--7 games played. 11 punts for 37.8 yard average. 1
inside the 20 yard line.
#26 Caleb Gammel P 6-3 188
R-Fr. Pineville, La. (Buckeye HS)--Redshirted in 2011.
Sophomore Conner Fryoux was solid
when he got the chance to punt in 2011 averaging 27.8 yards per punt. Fryoux
does not have the most powerful leg of any punter but if he can improve to 40
yards for his average in the upcoming seasons, he could become a weapon for the
Warhawks.
After a 4-8 season that saw the Warhawks
come close but not quite pull off some wins, ULM has a chance to get to .500
this fall. Browning has improved from season to season and big things are
expected out of him this fall. The offensive line is experienced and should be
the backbone of the offense. The kicking game is the biggest issue and must be
addressed. With the first 3 games versus Arkansas, Auburn, and Baylor, it will
be difficult for the Warhawks to not start 0-3. The Warhawks also must play the
top three Sun Belt teams from 2011 (Arkansas State, WKU, and FIU) on the road
making the chances of getting to .500 very hard.
