JONESBORO (8/19/12) - The Arkansas State football team wrapped up its
fall camp Sunday, holding meetings before taking the ASU Stadium field at
6:45 p.m. in shorts and helmets for a practice that lasted approximately one
hour in cool and overcast weather conditions.
The Red Wolves used the previous day to hold their fourth scrimmage of
the year at 9 p.m. in order to better simulate game-time conditions for their
season opener at Oregon on Sept. 1. The
scrimmage featured some full-contact action early, but also put A-State in
various scripted scenarios they could face in a game.
"It was good for us as coaches, and our guys were pretty
excited," said ASU head coach Gus Malzahn about Saturday's scrimmage. "We tried to practice late at night, and
that's a different deal. So again, it
was good for us and I thought our guys were focused and ready to go for the
most part.
