Recruiting: 9/18/12-09/25/12

09/18/12
Jaylen Ruiz DE Fresno, CA San Joaquin Memorial 6'3" 260 3 stars--Fresno State
Elijah Nkansah OL Mason, OH Mason 6'5" 305--Toledo

Jaylen Ruiz is a 6-3, 260 pound defensive end out of Fresno, California via San Joaquin Memorial High School. Ruiz committed to the hometown Fresno State Bulldogs with offers from Houston and Southern Methodist. Ruiz was also garnering attention from FBS schools California, Michigan State and UCLA when committing to the Bulldogs. Ruiz is a 3-star recruit according to the Rivals website and could be a very big part of the Bulldog defense in the upcoming years.

Elijah Nkansah is a 6-5, 305 pound offensive lineman out of Mason, Ohio via Mason High School. Nkansah has college-ready size and turned down an offer from Big East school Cincinnati in order to commit to the Toledo Rockets. Nkansah is currently unranked according to the Rivals website but should gain at least 2 stars as well as attention outside of Ohio with a strong senior season.

09/19/12:
William Udeh DE Coppell, TX Coppell 6'2" 225 3 stars--New Mexico

William Udeh is a 6-2, 225 pound defensive end out of Coppell, Texas via Coppell High School. Udeh chose the New Mexico Lobos for his commitment despite gaining interest from SEC and Big 12 schools this fall. Udeh is a 3-star commitment according to the Rivals website and has been timed at 4.70 in the 40 yard dash, bench pressed 300 pounds and squatted 500 pounds. It is only a matter of time before some of the bigger schools try to steal Udeh from New Mexico.

09/20/12:
Marcos Curry LB Round Rock, TX Stony Point 5'11" 215--UTSA

Marcos Curry is a 5-11, 215 pound linebacker out of Round Rock, Texas via Stony Point High School. Curry chose UTSA for his commitment after they were the first team to make an offer to him. Curry is slightly short for the position but could be a solid player at the middle linebacker spot as long as he can handle the contact in the middle every play of the game.

09/21/12:
Isaiah Johnson OL Cincinnati, OH Walnut Hills 6'9" 275--Akron
Nkeal Bailey DB Princeton, TX Princeton 6'0" 155--UTSA

Isaiah Johnson is a 6-9, 275 pound offensive lineman out of Cincinnati, Ohio via Walnut Hills High School. Johnson is enormous and would immediately be one of the tallest players in all of college football once he steps on campus. Johnson is currently unranked according to the Rivals website but turned down offers from Kent State, Ohio, and Xavier to play his college ball at Akron. It is yet to be determined if Johnson will attempt to play basketball as well.

Nkeal Bailey is a 6-0, 155 pound defensive back out of Princeton, Texas via Princeton High School. Bailey chose to join the UTSA Roadrunners despite gaining attention from Rice and Tulsa of Conference USA. Bailey is not currently ranked according to the Rivals website but has been timed at 4.40 in the 40 yard dash leading many to believe his future is at cornerback. Bailey's slight frame will have to be added to on the college level and may force him to make the move to safety in the future.

09/22/12:
No Commitments.

09/23/12:
David Elias DE Geismar, LA Dutchtown 6'2" 257 2 stars--ULM

David Elias is a 6-2, 257 pound defensive end out of Geismar, Louisiana via Dutchtown High School. Elias chose the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks despite offers from Arkansas State, McNeese State and Southeast Louisiana. Elias is a 2-star recruit according to the Rivals website and can immediately bolster a defense that needs an influx of physical players on the defensive line.

09/24/12:
Jalen Coleman LB Daphne, AL Daphne 6'2" 215--UAB
Jamaris Hart DB Florence, AL Florence 5'9" 170--UAB
Jordan Petty DB Florence, AL Florence 5'9" 175--UAB

Jalen Coleman is a 6-2, 215 pound linebacker out of Daphne, Alabama via Daphne High School. UAB was Coleman's first and only offer and he chose immediately to accept the offer to join the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers in 2013. Coleman is a bit of a project player and will be a solid player on the team once he gets a year or two of seasoning.

Jamaris Hart is a 5-9, 170 pound defensive back out of Florence, Alabama via Florence High School. Hart chose Alabama-Birmingham despite increased interest from SEC team Mississippi State in recent weeks. Hart is short but has the ball skills to take on receivers much bigger than him without giving up an inch. Expect Hart to be in the cross hairs of several bigger programs that will try to steal him away as he has a good senior year.

Jordan Petty is a 5-9, 175 pound defensive back out of Florence, Alabama via Florence High School. Petty is unranked according to the Rivals website and has only been offered from Alabama-Birmingham. Petty plays alongside fellow cornerback and UAB commit Jamaris Hart and may have been a bit of an add on to secure the services of Hart this fall. Petty could be a good player in the future for the Blazers but will need some time to get stronger.

09/25/12:
Fred Scott LB Kennedale, TX Kennedale 5'11" 225--North Texas

Fred Scott is a 5-11, 225 pound linebacker out of Kennedale, Texas via Kennedale High School. Scott is heading to North Texas despite interest from Louisiana Tech and an offer from WAC  team Texas State. Scott is one of those under the radar players that can play on the college level but being under 6-0 scares some teams off. This should be a good pickup for the Mean Green and Scott should start at least 2 years in his career at North Texas.
