BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy given 2012 CFPA National Defensive Performer of the Year

BYU football's biggest star, linebacker Kyle Van Noy, once again stood center stage Tuesday night as he received the 2012 CFPA National Defensive Performer of the Year award in front of the Marriott Center crowd.

His first thought? Enjoy the moment.
"This was something you don't take for granted," he said after leaving the floor. "I wanted to soak it up. This is a different kind of setting than a football stadium because the fans are a lot closer. There is an electricity here."
He might have another reason to savor that time: It means he could step away from the challenging Cougar off-season workout regimen that he said is harder this year than he's ever experienced before.
"It's been amped up 10 times or 20 times," he said. "There are days when it has been a struggle. It's a grind and you have to love it to go through it."
