Coming off of a 12-2 season that ended with a BCS bowl berth versus Florida State in the Orange Bowl, the Huskies have a very manageable non-conference schedule with trips to Iowa, Idaho, and Purdue while hosting FCS foe Eastern Illinois. The Huskies face 5 MAC teams that made bowl games in 2012 with a home game versus Ball State and road trips to Central Michigan, Toledo, and Kent State. Overall, the Huskies play one of the weaker overall schedule of the MAC with 5 teams on the schedule going over .500 last fall.
