The UTEP Miners are coming off of a 2012 season that saw them miss a bowl game. The Miners play a reasonable non-conference slate facing both New Mexico and New Mexico State as well as Colorado State and Texas A&M. Three of those four games are winnable with the Texas A&M game being quite unwinnable. The Miners have home conference games versus UTSA, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa, and FIU. Overall, the Miners face 5 teams that were bowl eligible in 2012.
