The Western Kentucky football program lost offensive line
coach Mike Summers on Tuesday as he was hired for the same position at Southern
California.
Summers spent the past three seasons as running game
coordinator and offensive line coach at Kentucky. A native of Lexington,
Summers has also spent time at Northern Illinois, Oklahoma State, Louisville
and Arkansas and with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons.
His tenure at WKU
lasted a little more than two months.
This is the second overall assistant coach to leave for greener pastures since Bobby Petrino took over the Hilltopper program following the 2012 season. Assistant Kevin Peoples resigned in mid January to take a job with Conference USA team UAB.
