According to 247, Boise State is the 61st ranked recruiting class in the nation and the top ranked Mountain West Conference program, just overtaking San Jose State. The Broncos have been able to use their most recent decade of success and become one of the premier destinations for players not going to the "Power 5" conferences. In several occasions, the Broncos have beaten out several high profile programs for top level recruits.

The Broncos are coming off of a very good 12-2 season that ended with an impressive 38-30 win over Pac-12 south division winners Arizona in the Fiesta bowl. As of a result of their success, the Broncos bring in two 4-star recruits with JUCO transfer Kameron Miles expecting to immediately fight for playing time in the secondary and incoming freshman quarterback Brett Rypien. Rypien is the son of former Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Rypien.
