According to 247, San Jose State is the 54th ranked recruiting class in the nation and the second ranked independent program behind Notre Dame. The Cougars were able show their national appeal with seven different states making up their recruiting class, including a commit from Kentucky. As things currently stand, BYU could easily push a top 50 overall recruiting class for this season with only 19 overall commits listed.

The Cougars are coming off of a disappointing 8-5 season that got sidetracked when quarterback Taysom Hill fell to injury. Despite Hill returning in 2015 for his senior season, the Cougars have brought in several quarterbacks looking to earn that coveted backup signal caller role. Whoever ends up as the backup must be ready to play as Hill's style of play leaves him more ssusceptibleto injury.
