Enos leaves Central Michigan

Central Michigan head coach Dan Enos has resigned from his head coaching position at Central Michigan University in order to take the offensive coordinator job at Arkansas. Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel reported that Enos informed his team of the move at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

Enos was 26-36 in five years at Central Michigan, reaching bowl games in two of the past three seasons. The Chippewas lost to Western Kentucky 49-48 in the Bahamas Bowl on Christmas Eve. The Central Michigan job was Enos' first head coaching job and throughout his tenure with the program, there had been an visible uneasiness between the coach and fan base.

Enos led the Chippewas to two bowl games in his five years on the job but was unable to ever get CMU above 4th place in the MAC West Division. Enos is an alum of Michigan State and has primarily been a coach in northern colleges with an exception of coordinating the offense at Missouri State in 1999.

The biggest fear of losing a head coach this late in the recruiting period is the fear of decommitments from the 20 current commits. It is imperative for the Chippewas to find another head coach immediately to salvage the MAC's 6th rated recruiting class.

More information will be added as new developments come to light with the new head coaching vacancy.
