According to 247, Fresno State has the 96th overall rated recruiting class, ranking the Bulldogs 4th in the Mountain West Conference. The class is currently small at 11 total players and comes from only two states, California and Texas. While many would expect the class to be dominated by California players, 7 of the 11 commits are from the state of Texas.

The Bulldogs are coming off of a 6-8 season that saw them lose to Boise State in the MWC Championship game followed by a loss to Rice in the Hawaii Bowl. Fresno State had a hard time replacing Derek Carr at quarterback and lost a bit of their high-scoring ability but hung in close and easily could have won 2-3 more games in 2014. The bowl game loss was Fresno State's 6th straight bowl loss.
