According to 247, Marshall is the 69th ranked recruiting class in the nation and the third ranked Conference USA program, just behind Florida Atlantic. The Thundering Herd have been forced to go out of state for their recruiting class with only one player (Alex Locklear) coming from within the confines of West Virginia. Florida and Georgia were important states for Marshall with a combined 13 commits coming from those two states.

The Thundering Herd is coming off of a great season that saw them come within one game of a perfect regular season. Despite the hiccup, Marshall won the Conference USA title game and destroyed Northern Illinois in the Boca Raton Bowl. The Thundering Herd has several positions up for grab but should continue their run of good play in the 2015 season.
