BYU and Southern Mississippi agree to play in 2014-15

In what could be quite an entertaining and big set of games, BYU and Southern Miss will play a home and home series starting in 2014 and going into 2015.

“I’m pleased that Southern Miss agreed to play this series that allows both schools to have unique travel experiences and play very good competition,” Holmoe said in a statement. “I’m excited that BYU fans in the south will have another opportunity to see our football team play live. As we continue to create our independent football schedules we hope to schedule these types of intersectional games.”

This will be the 3rd and 4th meetings between the squads and the first meeting since 1976. BYU is a perfect 2-0 and will look to continue that sterling mark.

Southern Miss AD Richard Giannini had this to say. “We have shown over our history that we like to play quality non-conference opponents and, by signing a home-and-home series with BYU, this is another example of that philosophy in our scheduling, We know our fans will be excited about this series and we look forward to traveling to BYU in 2014 and hosting the Cougars in 2015.”
This game will be an addition to an already strong 2014 schedule for the Cougars already including Texas, Boise, and Georgia Tech.
