Overall Breakdown: Rice had another rough season in 2010 only winning 4 games and losing 8 games last fall. The Owls were outscored by 9.8 points per game in giving up 38.5 points per game in 2010. There was only one game in 2010 that the Owls held an opponent to fewer than 30 points in a season ending victory over UAB. Rice must learn how to play some defense and could possibly compete for a bowl berth if the defense becomes decent. Texas was the most disappointing team of the 2010 season. The Longhorns were a preseason #5 ranked team that had many starters returning from a squad that played for the national title the previous season but ended the season at 5-7 with 3 of the 5 wins coming over Rice, Wyoming and Florida Atlantic. The Longhorns are expected to bounce back from a rough 2010 season and compete for the Big 12 title. Texas should be able to win the matchup with Rice in similar fashion to the 2010 win, winning comfortably but not blowing the Owls out.
