Overall Breakdown: Hopes were up for Fresno State going into a neutral field showdown with in state foe California. Those hopes were dashed with an anemic offensive performance that totaled only 218 yards of offense and a paltry 68 yards rushing. The defense was not much better giving up 36 points in the 15 point loss to open the season. Nebraska had its usual strong start to the season winning a blowout over I-AA opponent UT Chattanooga 40-7. The Huskers had more yards on the ground than Fresno had overall in week one. The key to the game is the play of Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez and his ability to torch the Bulldog defense for big plays as Cal was able to do as evidenced by the 16+ yards per completion average. Nebraska may start slow but turn on the jets in the late 1st/early 2nd quarter and handle Fresno by multiple scores along the lines of 45-14 or 37-7.
