Rundown of Wyoming, New Mexico, Colorado State, UAB, and BGSU's Week 2 games

There will be short previews for teams all day long starting with these 5 matchups.

  • Wyoming versus Texas State-- Wyoming is coming off of a 35-32 win to open the season over I-AA opponent Weber State. The offense looked good getting 450+ yards of total offense including 294 in the air. The defense was dreadful giving up 32 points and 541 yards total offense including over 300 yards and 2 touchdowns in the air. Texas State is coming off of a week one loss by the score of 50-10 versus Texas Tech. The Bobcats gave up over 500 yards of total offense including 336 yards and 3 touchdowns in the air. Look for Wyoming to struggle yet again but have enough offense to take care of Texas State and their pourous defense. Wyoming 42-24.
  • New Mexico versus Arkansas-- New Mexico came close to opening their 2011 season with a win over Colorado State losing 14-10. The Lobos had 329 yards of total offense while giving up 270 yards to the Rams. Three turnovers are what did in UNM and their attempt to overcome the horrible 2010 season. Arkansas are without All- American candidate Knile Davis with a preseason ankle injury but had not troulbe disposing of I-AA Missouri State in the opener. The offense turned to the passing game with quarterbacks Wilson and Mitchell combining for 364 yards and 3 touchdowns. New Mexico will not be able to get off of the slide from 2010 and should lose this game in tough fashion. Arkansas 55-14.
  • Northern Colorado versus Colorado State--The Northern Colorado Bears lost a touch week one matchup to Lindenwood University 22-20 in a game that they gave up 447 yards while only accumulating 263 of their own. Colorado State did just enough to beat an improved New Mexico squad 14-10 in the season opener. Sophomore quarterback Pete Thomas led the attack with 178 yards passing and 1 touchdown in the opener. The Rams should be able to take care of this I-AA opponent with relative ease in week two. Colorado State 42-14.
  • UAB versus Florida--The UAB Blazers are coming into a week two matchup with Florida with this matchup being their season opener. Senior quarterback Brian Ellis leads the attack with over 2900 yards and 25 touchdown passes in the 2010 season to go along with 2 rushing touchdowns. Florida dismantled Florida Atlantic in their first game of the Will Muschamp era in Gainesville. The Gators had 468 yards of total offense including 229 in ther air form Brantley although he did throw two interceptions. If UAB can force turnovers and score early points off of the Gators, this could be a closer than anticipated matchup. Florida should pull away in the 2nd half due to their depth at key positions. Florida 34-21.
  • Bowling Green State University versus Morgan State--Bowling Green comes into this week two matchup on the heels of a very nice road win over Idaho., 32-15. The offense was clicking with 478 yards including 291 in the air and 197 on the ground. The Falcons played solid defense giving up fewer than 300 yards and holding Idaho to 2-12 on 3rd down opportunities. Morgan State started their 2011 season off with a poor showing versus conference opponent Towson losing 42-3. The offense was only able to put together 160 yards while the defense gave up over 500 yards including 270 yards and 4 touchdowns in the air. This should be a nice and easy win for the Falcons getting them prepared for a week 3 matchup versus Wyoming. BGSU 55-10.
