UCF versus SMU Preview
3:30 PM ET UCF at Southern Methodist—Central Florida (3-2, 1-0) is coming into this game wondering how giving up an average of 10 points per game can still net in 2 losses. The Knight offense has struggled on the season especially the last three games with 10, 17, and 16 points respectively. If the offense can find a way to score points, the Knights have a realistic chance of running the Conference USA table. Southern Methodist (4-1, 2-0) has rebounded from a huge setback in the opener versus Texas A&M with 4 consecutive wins capped by an overtime win versus #20 TCU. The offense has put up 40 points per game in the last 3 games led by senior J.J. McDermott’s 1,482 yards passing on the season. McDermott has thrown for at least 250 yards in every game this season with a season high of 357 versus Memphis. This is the great defense versus great offense debate and with as little as UCF’s offense brings to the table, it will not be enough to outscore the Mustang offense.
