Colorado State, a brief look

Colorado State (3-9, 1-6)--Colorado State was sitting pretty with a 3-1 record at the end of September in 2011 before incurring an 8-game losing streak that destroyed their season. Realistically, the Rams were a one note team that could run the ball well (44th in rushing yards per game) but could not do anything else very well in 2011. The Rams ranked in the bottom 30 nationally in passing yards per game, points scored per game, and points allowed per game. They were outscored by just under 10 points per game and lost 6 games by 14 or more points. In jumps former Alabama offensive coordinator Jim McElwain to take over as head coach. McElwain brings the pedigree of being on the national title coaching staff and should breathe an air of life into the program. The Rams were able to sign 20 prospects including 3 three-star recruits that will dup the talent level for Colorado State in 2012. Expect some growing pains but 4 or 5 wins is a distinct possibility for the Rams.
