In following with another former SMU starting quarterback, Kyle Padron is taking his talents to Eastern Washington. Padron was the starting quarterback for the season opening game for the Mustangs but was pulled early after throwing 2 quick interceptions that really killed SMU's chances of pulling an upset. JJ McDermott took over the job and stayed the quarterback for the rest of the season.
Padron will be immediately eligible for Eastern Washington and should compete for and possibly win the starting job. SMU loses McDermott from 2011 but it looks like former Texas quarterback Garrett Gilbert will be eligible immediately for the Mustangs as long as he graduates from Texas before enrolling at SMU.
