Fresno State, a brief look

Fresno State (4-9, 3-4)--A disappointing season in 2011 will be hard to put in the rearview mirror for Fresno State as the Bulldogs lost 5 of their last 6 games and saw longtime coach Pat Hill get fired from the program. The Bulldogs struggled defensively giving up over 35 points per game while only scoring 28 points per game. Quarterback Derek Carr returns for his junior year to lead an offense that had a 3500 yard passer and a 1500 yard rusher in 2011. Carr is the younger brother of former Bulldog and #1 overall NFL draft pick David Carr. Robbie Rouse comes back for his senior year coming off of a season that saw him tote the ball 329 times for 1549 yards. New head coach Tim DeRuyter inherits a team that is very efficient and talented offensively but not very good at all defensively. If DeRuyer can patch the defensive holes and cut down on the big plays given up, there is a good chance to the Bulldogs to reverse their 4-8 record and win 8 games in 2012. Also of note is that the Bulldogs officially join the MWC this season and will play a MWC football schedule.
