BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Two Western Kentucky football players were
recovering Sunday after being wounded by gunshots outside a bar.
A statement from the school's athletic department says defensive lineman Tevin Holliman and defensive back Ricardo Singh were each hit once, and their wounds weren't life-threatening.
The shooting early Sunday outside the Lava Lounge in Bowling Green happened hours after the team played its annual spring game.
Bowling
Green Police spokesman Ronnie Ward said it appears someone shot into a
crowd outside the bar and struck the players. He said police are still
trying to identify a suspect, and hoped to get more information about
what happened when Holliman and Singh are well enough to be interviewed.
He said an officer happened to be driving by the scene when he heard gunshots and called for backup at 12:39 a.m.
Holliman is a sophomore from Tucker, Ga., and Singh is a freshman from Auburndale, Fla.
The school's statement said coach Willie Taggart has spoken to the parents of both players.
Holliman,
a sophomore, had eight tackles and a forced fumble during the 2011
season. Singh, a freshman, played mostly on special teams and had two
tackles during the season.
