Boise State versus BYU preview

 Thursday, September 20:

9:00 PM Brigham Young at No. 24 Boise State: This is a matchup between FBS independent BYU and the Boise State Broncos of the Mountain West Conference. BYU enters this game at 2-1 coming off the heels of a devastating loss in the "Holy War" versus Utah. The Cougars are the 36th ranked passing offense in the nation behind the arm of quarterback Riley Nelson who is hitting 60% of his passes for 735 yards and 5 touchdowns on the season. The Cougars are 54th nationally in scoring offense with a very respectable 32 points per game. The Cougars are 20th nationally only giving up 14.3 points per game with a high of 24 allowed last week versus Utah. Boise State enters this game at 1-1 with a loss to Michigan State in the season opener and a win over Miami OH with a lopsided score of 39-12 in their second game. The Broncos got a strong performance from running back DJ Harper who ran for a career high 162 yards and 3 touchdowns in the win last week. The Broncos defense is equally skilled as BYU giving up 14.5 points per game with a high of 17 points coming from Michigan State. This is the third time the two teams have met with Boise State winning the previous two meetings. Expect this to be a struggle on offense for both teams in similar fashion to the BYU-Utah game last week with BYU getting the better quarterback play in route to a rare 28-24 win on the blue turf in Boise.
