Week 5 Preview; South Alabama versus Troy

Saturday, September 29
3:30 PM Troy at South Alabama:
This is a Sun Belt matchup between the Troy Trojans and the South Alabama Jaguars. The Troy Trojans enter this game at 2-2 coming off of a hard fought 14-7 Sun Belt win over North Texas. The Trojans are again top 10 nationally passing the ball with 335 yards passing per game but in similar fashion to last year, they have trouble scoring points on a regular basis. The Trojans rank 89th nationally with 25.3 points scored per game. The defense finally got on track versus North Texas after allowing 29, 37, and 30 points in the opening three games of the season. South Alabama enters this game at 1-3 and make their much anticipated initial foray into Sun Belt play with the Trojans. The Jaguars are struggling mightily on offense with the 86th ranked passing game, the 112th ranked rushing game, and the 120th ranked scoring offense with only 14.3 points scored per game. The Jaguars do have a solid defense that keeps them in games allowing 24.3 points per game although spending huge chunks of time on the field due to the ineptness of the defense. In the end, Troy is just good enough on defense to keep the Jaguars from scoring enough to get the upset. Troy 24-10.
