Week 5 Preview: Tulsa versus UAB

Saturday, September 29
3:00 PM Tulsa at UAB:

This is a Conference USA matchup between the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes and the Alabama-Birmingham Blazers. Tulsa enters this game at 3-1 after a thrilling 27-26 win over a very talented Fresno State team. The Golden Hurricanes could easily be undefeated if not for a huge collapse versus Iowa State in the season opener. Tulsa brings in a strong rushing attack with 245 yards rushing per game which is actually higher than their passing average (236 ypg.) which is rare for the Golden Hurricanes. The defense is solid but is susceptible to giving up a lot of points versus quality competition. he UAB Blazers may be 0-3 but they gave Troy and #16 Ohio State all they could handle in those losses. The Blazers come out throwing the ball to the tune of 274 yards per game but struggle on the ground with the 101st ranked rushing attack in the country. The Blazers have struggled on defenses versus three very capable teams giving up 39 points, 49 points, and 29 points in the three games. This is the 4th overall meeting between the two schools with Tulsa holding a 3-0 series lead over UAB. This is not the best matchup for the Blazers to try and win their 1st game of the season but they are coming off of a confidence boosting loss in which they played Ohio State play for play for the whole game. Tulsa is more explosive offensively than many teams UAB faces and will prove to be tough to stop. In honor of the trend with UAB scores, Tulsa's score must end with a 9. Tulsa 39-24.
