Week 6 Preview: Boise State versus Southern Miss

12:00 PM Boise State at Southern Miss:
This is a matchup between Boise State of the Mountain West Conference and Southern Miss of Conference USA. Boise State enters this game at 3-1 on the season with the only blemish being a 17-13 loss to Michigan State in the season opener. The Broncos have been less efficient and much less explosive with new quarterback Joe Southwick at the helm. After being in the top 5 in scoring pretty much the entire time Moore was the quarterback, the Broncos have fallen to 98th nationally after 4 games. The Boise State defense has been great holding opponents to 16 points per game while facing some pretty good offenses. Southern Miss enters this game at 0-4 doubling the total number of losses from 2011. Southern Miss has been flat out horrible passing the ball with only 108 yards in the air per game while having an average rushing game putting up 165 yards on the ground per game. The Southern Miss staple of a great defense has been thrown out the window with a defense that gives up 34 points per game including over 40 top both Nebraska and Western Kentucky. This is the third overall meeting between the two schools with Boise State holding a 2-0 overall record in the series. Southern Miss looked better last week in a loss to Louisville but many wonder if it had more to do with the conditions than the Golden Eagles play. Expect Boise State to continue to improve on offense and give Southern Miss too much to handle in dropping Southern Miss to 0-5. Boise State 37-14.
