Week 7 Preview; Nevada versus UNLV

Saturday, October 13
3:00 PM Nevada at UNLV:

This is a Mountain West Conference matchup between the Nevada Wolfpack and the University of Nevada-Las Vegas Rebels. Nevada enters this game at 5-1 on the season with a 1-point loss to a free-falling South Florida squad their only blemish. The Wolfpack are led by the nation's leading rusher Stefphon Jefferson who has ran for 955 yards and 11 touchdowns on the season. While the Wolfpack have the nation's 7th ranked rushing attack, the passing game is no slouch with 280 yards coming in the air for an offense that puts up 550+ yards per game good for 4th best nationally. The Wolfpack struggle on defense giving up 20+ points in every game this season. UNLV enters this game at 1-5 despite playing some solid football this season. The only win for the Rebels was a 38-35 win over the Air Force Academy. The Rebels have a 1500 yard passer and a 600 yard rusher but give up 35 points per game including 58 to Louisiana Tech last week. This is the 38th overall meeting between the two in-state schools with Nevada holding a 22-15 overall series lead including wins in the last 7 meetings. Nevada is an offensive force that few teams are equipped to handle and will be quite the challenge for the Rebel defense. The only hope for UNLV is to force turnovers and win the time of possession battle. Too many things work out in Nevada's favor and the Wolfpack should take care of business. Nevada 45-24.
