According to 247, the Aztecs are the 88th overall recruiting class in the nation, ranking them 3rd overall in the Mountain West Conference. The Aztecs currently have a recruiting class of 18 players with 11 coming from California, 2 from Arizona and 5 from Texas. Of the 18 overall recruits, 10 are rated 3-stars, giving them one of the more talented classes under 20 players in the nation.

SDSU is coming off of a slightly disappointing 7-6 season in 2014 that ended with a tough 17-16 loss to the Naval Academy in the Poinsettia Bowl. The Aztecs never could get into a winning rhythm as the longest winning streak ended at two games on two separate occasions. SDSU must get better on the road as they went 6-0 at home and 1-5 on the road in the 2014 season.
