Southern Miss comes into the final days before signing day with one of the larger classes in the nation with a solid 27 prospects ready to contribute for the Golden Eagles. This ranking puts Southern Miss 87th overall in the nation, with a 6th place spot in Conference USA. In impressive fashion, 10 of the 27 commits are already on campus and enrolled in classes, making them eligible to participate in spring practice. The Golden Eagles went to 9 different states for their commits with 10 overall coming from in-state programs. Southern Miss headed to Arizona, California, and Kansas while still hitting the talent rich southeast for players.

While struggling to a 3-9 record in 2014, the Golden Eagles did show significant signs of improvement last fall. Three losses easily could have gone either way and we could be talking about the much improved 5-7 or 6-6 Southern Miss squad than the 3-9 team of 2014. The Golden Eagles struggled in conference play with a disappointing 1-7 record and their only win in conference play coming versus North Texas. 3-9 is an improvement after 0-12 and 1-11 years in the previous two seasons.
