According to 247, the Chippewas have the 94th ranked recruiting class in the nation, ranking them 5th in the very competitive MAC standings. CMU has 20 current recruits committed to the school with 19 of the 20 players coming from in-state in Michigan and the other coming from nearby Illinois. The Chippewas have 6 of their 20 commits ranked 3-star, giving a talented class to the 2014 coaching staff. More than any team in the nation, this class in in flux as 2014 head coach Dan Enos left the job right before the end of recruiting. It will be interesting to see how many recruits stay.

CMU is coming off of a 7-6 season that ended in a wild 49-48 loss to Western Kentucky in the Bahamas Bowl. Since then, the Chippewas have seen head coach Dan Enos leave and have appointed Kyle Nystrom as interim head coach and could end up giving the valued assistant the job. CMU pulled off a surprise upset of MAC Champions Northern Illinois but losses to Ball State, Western Michigan and Toledo derailed their title aspirations.
