64 FBS to FBS transfers dot the CUSA landscape

Conference USA programs have been able to bring in players from other FBS programs on a regular basis to fill holes, give players second chances, and give players a chance to compete for playing time when that was not a possibility previously. 64 FBS to FBS transfers are currently on Conference USA team rosters with with five schools bringing in 5+ of those players.

Charlotte: (7)


  • Zeph Grimes, LB: Illinois. Graduate transfer, eligible immediately. No other information given.
  • Andrew Buie, RB: West Virginia. Graduate transfer, eligible immediately. No other information given. 
  • Ardy Holmes, DB: Marshall. Played for Marshall in 2012. Joined Charlotte starting in the 2013 season. 
  • Uriah LeMay, WR: Georgia. Redshirted for Georgia in 2013. Transferred to Charlotte in 2014. 
  • Desmond Floyd, LB: Wake Forest. Graduate transfer, eligible immediately. No other information given. 
  • Anthony Covington, DB: Appalachian State. Played for Appalachian State in the 2013 season before transferring to Charlotte for the 2014 season. 
  • Josh Manley, DL: Syracuse. Played for Syracuse in the 2012 and 2013 seasons. Sat out the 2014 season at Charlotte due to NCAA transfer rules.

  • Trey Anderson, QB: Pittsburgh. Played in four games and completed 12-33 passes for 55 yards with three interceptions in 2011 for Pitt. Played in one game and completed 2-2 passes in 2012 for Pitt. Redshirted the 2013 season for Pitt. Completed 11-of-18 passing for 155 yards and one touchdown in 2014 for Pitt. Eligibility for FIU in 2015 is uncertain.
  • Jephete Matilus, LB: Minnesota. No information given.
  • Anthon Samuel, RB: Bowling Green. MAC Freshman of the Year after rushing for 844 yards and five touchdowns on 144 carries. 15 receptions for 93 yards through the air for BGSU in 2011. Rushed for 998 yards and 11 touchdowns for BGSU in 2012. Redshirted in 2013 as a transfer. Rushed for 582 yards on 132 carries with five touchdowns for FIU in 2014.
  • Imarjaye Albury, DT: West Virginia. Redshirted the 2012 season for West Virginia. Forced to sit out the season due to NCAA transfer rules in 2013. Started in all 12 games for the with 19 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks in 2014 for FIU.

  • Tyler Cameron, QB: Wake Forest. Graduate transfer, eligible immediately. 
  • Lance Virgile, LB: Wake Forest. No information given.
  • Kelly Parfitt, OL: UCF. Played for UCF in 2012 and 2013 and appeared in games against Akron, FIU, UConn and Rutgers in 2013. Sat out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules. 

Louisiana Tech: (4)


  • Joseph Brunson, OL: Louisiana. Redshirted 2012 season for Louisiana. Not eligible to play during 2013 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Played in all 14 games, starting in eight for Louisiana Tech in 2014.
  • Jeff Driskel, QB: Florida. Completed 16-of-34 passes for 148 yards for Florida in 2011. Started 12 games for the Gators and completed 156-of-245 passes for 1,646 yards with 12 touchdowns for Florida in 2012. Started three games before suffering a season-ending fracture in his leg and threw for 477 yards completing 42-of-63 passes for Florida in 2013. Played in nine games and made six starts at quarterback, throwing for 1,140 yards with nine touchdowns for Florida in 2014. Graduate transfer, eligible immediately. 
  • Derek Edinburgh, OT: LSU. Redshirted as a true freshman for LSU in 2012. Did not play in any games for LSU in 2013. Ineligible to play in 2014 due to NCAA transfer rule.
  • Paul Turner, WR: LSU. Redshirted as a true freshman in 2011 for LSU. Played in nine games with no starts for LSU in 2012. Ruled ineligible to play in 2013 due to the NCAA transfer rule. Played in 12 games, finishing the year second on the team with 514 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 42 catches for Louisiana Tech in 2014. 

Marshall: (4)


  • Shawn Petty, LB: Maryland. Four games, all starts and completed 39-of-84 passes for 500 yards with six TDs for Maryland in 2012. Appeared in 13 games, with three starts and 24 tackles, 4 tfl, and 2 sacks for Maryland in 2013. Sat out the 2014 season after transferring from Maryland to Marshall in summer of 2014. 
  • Davon Durant, LB: Arizona State. No Information given.
  • Blake Keller, DL: Central Florida. Made one start with 8 tackles, 4 tfl, and 3 sacks in four games for UCF in 2013. Sat out at Marshall in compliance with NCAA transfer rules after leaving UCF in 2014. 
  • Ricardo Williams, DL: Miami. Redshirted for Miami in 2011. Played in one game for Miami in 2012. Sat out the season after transferring from Miami (Fla.) to Marshall in summer of 2013. Played in 13 of 14 games with 17 tackles, including three tackles for loss for Marshall in 2014. 

MTSU: (5)


  • Alex Dale, CB: Cincinnati. 2012: Sat out the year after transferring from Cincinnati in 2012. Did not compete in any games for MTSU in 2013. Played in eight games for MTSU in 2014.
  • Jeremiah Bryson, RB: Pittsburgh. Originally signed with the University of Pittsburgh but transferred to MT in August and had to sit out the 2011 campaign due to NCAA transfer rules. Saw action in 10 games with one start. 12 catches for 122 yards and a touchdown while also rushing for 150 yards for MTSU in 2012. Played in nine games with two starts and ranked third on the team with 398 yards rushing with three touchdowns and 13 receptions for 69 yards for MTSU in 2013. Played in 11 games and finished with 221 yards on 42 carries and 6 touchdowns for MTSU in 2014. 
  • Corey McCarron, FB: Alabama. Sat out the season in accordance to NCAA FBS rules after transferring from South Alabama in 2012. A reserve tight end who saw action in three games for Alabama in 2013. No other information given. 
  • I'Tavius Mathers, RB: Ole Miss. Played in every game as a backup RB with 208 rushing yards on 27 carries with one TD for Ole Miss in 2012. Played in 12 games with one start and led the team with 563 rushing yards while catching 10 passes for 83 yards for Ole Miss in 2013. Played in 12 games and had one start and was Was third on the team in rushing with 290 yards to go with three touchdowns for Ole Miss in 2014. Will sit out the 2015 campaign due to NCAA transfer rules.  
  • Justin Akins, DL: Georgia Tech. Took a redshirt year at Georgia Tech before transferring to Middle Tennessee in 2013. Sat out due to NCAA transfer rules and will be eligible in 2015.

North Texas: (9)


  • Blake Bean, LB: Buffalo. Sat out after transferring from Buffalo. No other information given. 
  • Nate Grimm, WR: New Mexico State. Sat out after transferring from New Mexico State. No other information given. 
  • Rashad Jackson, DB: New Mexico. Played in six games on defense and special teams with 5 tackles for New Mexico in 2012. Redshirted by New Mexico in 2013. Sat out after transferring from New Mexico in 2014. 
  • Vershad Jackson, DB: New Mexico. Played in seven games on defense and special teams with five tackles during the season. Redshirted by New Mexico in 2013. Sat out after transferring from New Mexico in 2014. 
  • Trey Keenan, OL: Texas Tech. No information given. 
  • Jakii Moore, DB: UAB. Redshirted in 2014 at UAB and transferred to North Texas after the season and is eligible immediately. 
  • Kerrick Rhone, DB: Kent State. No information given. 
  • Sam Rice, OL: SMU. Played in all 13 games and saw most of his time on field goal tries and PATs in 2012 for SMU. Played and started in 6 games, including starting the first five games at left guard in 2013 for SMU. Sat out after transferring from SMU in 2014. 
  • Anthony Wallace, LB: Oregon. Appeared in six games as a true freshman for Oregon. Redshirted after transferring from Oregon in 2013. Recorded 25 total tackles and two pass breakups in nine games in 2014 for North Texas. 

Old Dominion: (3) 


  • Devon Brown, CB: UAB. Brown played in 10 games in 2014 at cornerback for UAB and registered 11 tackles and two pass breakups. Eligible immediately.
  • Nick England, WR: Florida International. A transfer from Florida International, he sat out the 2013 season due to NCAA transfer rules. Played in 11 games at wide receiver with 12 receptions for 177 yards and one touchdown for Old Dominion in 2014. 
  • Anthony Wilson, LB: Marshall. Transferred from Marshall University and sat out the 2012 season. Appeared in 10 games with two starts 25 tackles, one tackle for loss and a pass breakup for Old Dominion in 2013. Played in 11 games with 5 tackles and one fumble recovery for Old Dominion in 2014. 

Rice: (1)


  • Ryan Pollard, CB: Air Force. Saw action in four games with 4 tackles for Air Force in 2011. Redshirted as a transfer in 2012. Two-time Speical Teams Player of the Week for Rice in 2013. Key contributor for Rice in 2014 on defense. 

Southern Miss: (8) 


  • Andrew Bolton, DL: Kansas. Began collegiate career at Hinds Community College in 2011. Played in five games as a sophomore at Hinds CC before suffering an injury in 2012. Redshirted at Kansas in 2013. Played in 11 games with 16 tackles, 1.5 sacks and had 3.5 tackles for loss for Kansas in 2014. Eligible immediately for Southern Miss.
  • Stephen Brauchle, PK-P: Louisiana. Honorable mention NJCAA All-America as a freshman at Mississippi Gulf Coast CC in 2012. Made 8-of-13 field goal attempts and 52-42 PAT attempts for Louisiana in 2013. Sat out the 2014 season due to NCAA transfer rules, taking a redshirt.
  • Justice Hayes, RB: Michigan. Redshirted at Michigan in 2011. Appeared in six games as a reserve running back for Michigan in 2012. Played in eight games, making one start for Michigan in 2013. Played in 12 games, making one start for Michigan with 48 carries for 213 yards in 2014. Eligible immediately for Southern Miss. 
  • Casey Martin, WR: Houston. Redshirted for Houston in 2011. Played in three games as a reserve wide receiver for SMU in 2012. Did not compete during the season for SMU in 2013. Played in 11 games on the season, making three starts with 531 yards on 55 receptions and two touchdowns for Southern Miss in 2014.

  • Naim Mustafaa, DL: Miami. Participated in spring drills at Oklahoma State before transferring to Miami in August of 2013 and sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules, taking a redshirt. Did not compete during the season in 2014 after transferring from Miami to Southern Miss. 
  • Quincy Russell, DL: Oklahoma. Began collegiate career at Trinity Valley CC in 2011. Named 2012 NJCAA First Team All-American at Trinity Vally CC in 2012. Played in in a pair of games at Oklahoma in 2013. Redshirted at Oklahoma in 2014. Eligible immediately at Southern Miss.
  • Anthony Swain, LB: Auburn. Redshirted at Auburn in 2011. Played in 10 games for Auburn in 2012. Played in all 14 games with 26 tackles for Auburn in 2013. Played in all 13 games for Auburn with 18 tackles, 3 tfl, and 1 sack in 2014. Eligible immediately at Auburn. 

UTEP: (3)


  • Matthew Heard, LB: NM State. Redshirted his only season at NM State in 2012. Sat out the season due to NCAA transfer rules in 2013. Played in four games on special teams for UTEP in 2014. 
  • Jeremiah Laufasa, RB: Washington State. Appeared in nine games, totaling 90 yards on 17 carries at CWU in 2011. Redshirted in 2012 as a transfer from Central Washington.   • Dannon Cavil, WR: Oklahoma. Redshirted for Oklahoma in 2013. Did not play in any games for Oklahoma in 2014. Will have to sit out the 2015 season due to NCAA transfer rules. 
  • Bennett Okotcha, CB: Oklahoma. Sat out the 2011 campaign as a redshirt at Oklahoma. Did not play after transferring from Oklahoma during fall camp in 2012. Played in 10 games and started the final nine contests overall, with 29 tackles 11 pbu in 2013 for UTSA. Played in all 12 contests, including 11 starts with 23 tackles, an interception and five pass breakups for UTSA in 2014. 
  • Matthew Wylie, PK: Massachusetts. Walk-on transfer from Massachusetts that appeared in six games as a true freshman before missing the rest of the season due to injury.
  • Austin Jupe, S: Baylor. Sat out the 2013 season as a redshirt at Baylor. Did not play after transferring from Baylor in 2014.  
  • Devin Crayton, WR: Navy. Walk-on transfer from Navy.
  • T.J. Talashek, C: UTEP. Walk-on who transferred from UTEP prior to the 2014 campaign and orginally attended Coastal Carolina in 2012.
  • Justin Barlow, DE: Troy. Walk-on transfer from Troy 
  • Cal Spangler, WR: Baylor. Walk-on graduate transfer from Baylor that appeared in 10 games the past two seasons for the Bears.

WKU: (4)


  • Anthony Davis, RB: Indiana. Tallied 65 yards on 10 carries in 2013 for the Hoosiers in the season opener against Indiana. He also saw time in five other games. Graduate transfer is eligible immediately.
  • Joe Manley, OL: Louisville. Played in 11 games for WKU in 2014 after sitting out the 2013 season. 
  • TJ McCollum, LB: UAB. Transfered to WKU from UAB where he appeared in 10 games in 2014 with seven tackles (six solo) after being redshirted in 2013. Eligible immediately at WKU.
  • Jontavius Morris, DL: UAB. Tallied 54 tackles in 35 games for the Blazers over his career. In 2014, he started 11 of 12 games and recorded 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, blocked a kick and returned a fumble 43 yards for a touchdown against North Texas. Started 19 of 35 games and playing in all but one possible game since 2012. Eligible immediately at WKU.
