Top 5 G5 Games For Week Two

With WKU-Louisiana Tech in the books, let's take a look at my five G5 games to watch for week two of the college football season.

  • Temple at Cincinnati: Temple broke onto the national scene with a dominant 27-10 over Penn State. Cincinnati is the preseason AAC favorite. We should get a much better idea of just how good both teams are overall in this game. (Cincinnati: QB Gunner Kiel 18-22/233/2TD, RB Tion Green 17/127/1 TD, WR Johnny Holton 3/81/2TD... Temple: QB PJ Walker 15-20/143/0TD, RB Jahad Thomas 29/135/2TD, WR Ventell Bryant 2/41/0TD)
  • Boise State at BYU: What can you say about this matchup other than two of the best G5 (yes, I put BYU in the G5 category) playing in Provo. The winner of this game will get lots of national attention after both teams defeating a P5 program last week. (Boise State: QB Ryan Finley 16-26/129/0TD, RD Jeremy McNichols 24/89/2TD, WR Thomas Sperbeck 3/28/0TD... BYU: QB Tanner Mangum 7-11/111/1TD, RB Adam Hine 4/37/0TD, WR Nick Kurtz 5/123/0TD)
  • Western Michigan at Georgia Southern: Though both are 0-1, this matchup faces two of the best teams from the MAC and Sun Belt. Western Michigan looked better in their loss to Michigan State than Georgia Southern in their loss to West Virginia. (Western Michigan: QB Zach Terrell 33-50/365/2TD, RB Javion Franklin 8/23/0TD, WR Corey Davis 10/154/1TD... Georgia Southern: QB Favion Upshaw 2-13/29/0TD, RB Matt Breida 17/70/0TD, WR Derek Keaton 1/17/0TD)
  • Houston at Louisville: Former Conference mates, the Cougars and Cardinals should put on a very exciting game in Kentucky. Both defenses have plenty of playmakers, but the offenses will get their time to shine as well. Expect a 27-24 type of game. (Houston: QB Greg Ward Jr. 21-27/275/1TD, RB Kenneth Farrow 11/49/0TD, WR Demarcus Ayers 10/121/0TD... Louisville: QB Lamar Jackson 9/20/0TD, RB Branson Radcliff 17/76/1TD, WR Devonte Peete 3/60/0TD)
  • Utah State at Utah: This game lost a bit of it's momentum with the egg Utah State laid in week one. The Aggies have to prove that they can move the ball on offense versus a stingy Utah defense. Right now, I think the Aggies defense keeps them in the game until Utah pulls away in the second half. (Utah State: QB Chuckie Keeton 16-33/110/0TD, RB LaJuan Hunt 23/80/0TD, WR Devonte Robinson 3/29/0TD... Utah: QB Travis Wilson 24-33/208/0TD, RB Devontae Booker 22/69/1TD, WR Britain Covey 5/58/0TD)
