Mountain West attendance numbers virtually flatten in 2014

In a year that saw the average attendance per game drop by 826 per game, the Mountain West Conference still remained at seventh place in conference standings with an average of 25,254 per game in 2014.

With 14 teams joining their ranks in 2014, Conference USA stayed pretty much flat in overall football attendance compared to the 2013 season. Of the 14 teams in Conference USA, six programs broke the 20,000 fan barrier with UTEP leading the way to the tune of 28,377 fans per game.

Attendance looking good for Sun Belt football

Out of all of the non-power five conferences, the Sun Belt has arguably done the best job of bringing in programs from the FCS level that have highly attended football games. Both Georgia Southern and Appalachian State were in the top four in the conference in attendance in 2014.

Is attendance an issue for MAC football programs?

For the second straight season, the MAC had the lowest average turnout for home and neutral site games of any FBS conference.
