Overall Breakdown: Louisiana Monroe has a head scratching 2010 season to say the least. They lost 5 games by 14 points or more and of their 7 overall losses, some of them came to 4-8 and 3-9 teams that were dreadful in 2010. Other weeks saw them play 2010 bowl team FIU into overtime before succumbing in the end and pulling an 14 point win out of nowhere versus 5 time conference champions Troy. In the end there was just not enough offense to counteract a defense that gave up over 32 points per game last season. The reality is that the Warhawks were lucky to get away with a 5 win season after being outscored by 12 points per game. Florida State had an impressive 2010 season getting double digit wins and playing in the conference championship game. Aside from a 2 game losing streak to UNC and NC State, the season was on the verge of great with the other two losses coming to Oklahoma and Virginia Tech. Many 2010 starters are back and cause the experts to give the Seminoles a top five preseason selection that may or may not prove to be quite generous. ULM never really competed against the “big boys” on their schedule in 2010 and will keep that going in 2011 with getting blown out by a very impressive but young FSU squad.
