Overall Breakdown: 2010 was the end of a short era for Michigan football. Even though they made a bowl game and finished with a winning record, 7-6 is unacceptable for a squad such as the Wolverines. The offense was outstanding with Denard Robinson running the spread and averaging almost 33 points per game. The defense was on the other side as they gave up 35+ points per game and gave up over 30 points in 9 of the 13 games. Western Michigan had the record to become eligible for a bowl but were not selected in 2010. The issue for the bowl selection committees was that the overall record of the D-I teams that the Broncos beat was a combined 14-46. If WMU would have won one game versus a D-I team with a winning record, they would have gone bowling. This game should end in similar fashion as the Michigan State and Notre Dame games of 2010 for WMU, a loss that ends up not really being that close.
