Week 2 top 10 rankings

Non-Big 6 Top 10 Preseason Week 2

  1. Boise State (1-0) — A dominant performance in a 35-21 win versus Georgia showed just how strong the Broncos can be. They should move into the top 4, possibly top 3 when the polls come out. Previous: Def. #19 Georgia 35-21, Next: at Toledo.
  2. UCF (2-0) — Central Florida was dominant in the second half and held ACC team Boston College to 3 points in a very impressive week 2 win. The Knights held BC to 141 yards of total offense including 7 drives that were for 9 or fewer yards. UCF is currently 1st in the nation with 1.5 points allowed per game and 16th with 46 points scored per game. Previous: Def. Boston College 30-3, Next: Florida International.
  3. Houston (2-0) — The Cougars made it to 2-0 with an offensive display Saturday. Quarterback Case Keenum was 26-41 for 458 yards and 5 touchdowns in the 48-23 win. The Cougars have the #1 passing offense in the nation averaging 436.5 yards in the air after 2 games. Previous: Def. North Texas, Next: Louisiana Tech.
  4. Navy (2-0) — The Midshipmen matched their week one offensive production in beating WKU 40-14. Navy has the #1 rushing offense in the country averaging 400.5 yards per game after 2 games. The Midshipmen have a tough week 3 matchup with #11 South Carolina. Previous: Def. WKU 40-14, Next: South Carolina.
  5. San Diego State University (2-0)—Led by star running back Ronnie Hillman, the Aztecs are now 2-0 with a hard fought win over Army. Hillman has 306 yards rushing after 2 games with a 6.8 yards per carry average putting him right near the top of the NCAA rushing standings. The passing offense took a step back in week 2 but should bounce back behind senior quarterback Ryan Lindley. Previous: Def. Army 23-20, Next: Washington State.
  6. BYU (1-1) — The Cougars will be kicking themselves for the rest of the year after letting a big game versus Big 12 power Texas go in the 4th quarter. The offense has been missing all season and could become a cause of concern if it does not improve soon. Previous: Lost to Texas 15-14, Next: Utah.
  7. TCU (1-1) — The Horned Frogs were able to recover from the devastating loss to Baylor with a dominant performance over Air Force. Many expected this to be a very close matchup but TCU scored 14 in the first quarter in route to a 21-3 halftime lead and eventual 35-19 win. Previous: Def. Air Force 35-19, Next: ULM.
  8. Florida International (2-0)— Surprise 2010 bowl team FIU hitched their wagon behind wide receiver T.Y. Hilton in beating Big East foe Louisville 24-17. The offense and defense have not been overwhelming except for Hilton who is working himself onto national lists for best player in the nation. A huge matchup versus UCF could do a lot in determining how good this season becomes. Previous: Def. Louisville, Next: UCF.
  9. Toledo (1-1)— The one team to move into the top 10 following a loss, the Rockets look like they could be the class of the MAC this year. Eric Page made a name for himself in the 27-22 loss to Ohio State collecting 12 catches for 145 yards and a 42 yard kickoff return. Previous: Lost to Ohio State 27-22, Next: Boise State.
  10. Air Force (1-1) — The Falcons could not overcome a very slow start in losing to TCU 35-19. Air Force could not make things happen in the 1st half ending the half down 18. The 7th ranked rushing offense in the country will have a bit of a breather in week 3 before a big matchup versus Navy in Annapolis. Previous: Lost to TCU 35-19, Next: Tennessee State.
Also receiving votes: NIU, Tulsa, Hawaii
