Game Previews: FAU, USA, Toledo, Akron, Wyoming and Idaho

5:00 PM Florida Atlantic at No. 1 Alabama: Ouch. That is about all that you can say about the Florida Atlantic Owls traveling to Alabama to face the #1 Crimson Tide. There is no concievable situation that I can see for Florida Atlantic to pull the upset. The goal for a game like this is for FAU to come out with as few injuries as possible and a little bit of confidence for upcoming conference play. Alabama 55-3.

7:00 PM South Alabama at No. 23 Mississippi State: The South Alabama Jaguars enter this matchup at 1-2 with a 31-7 loss to North Carolina State most recently. The Jaguars have been poor on offense with only 300 yards per game and only 15.7 points per game. In their only win, the Jaguars only scored 3 points versus FCS opponent Nicholls State. The Jaguars travel to #23 Mississippi State who are 3-0 and coming off of a hard fought win over Sun Belt member Troy. The Bulldogs are midpack offensively but score alot of points ranking 27th nationally with 38 points per game. There is no realistic scenario for the Jaguars to hang in with Mississippi State and should end in similar fashion to the NC State game. Mississippi State 38-7.

7:00 PM Coastal Carolina at Toledo: Toledo is still looking at lost opportunities versus Arizona that could see the Rockets undefeated at this point in the season. The Rockets enter this game at 2-1 an putting up 438 yards per game of offense. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers enter this game at 2-1 but not facing anyone with the offensive talent of Toledo. Expect Toledo to do like normal and give up points but heavily outscore Coastal Carolina in the win. Toledo wins it 45-18.

7:30 PM Akron at Tennessee: The Akron Zips enter this mismatch at 1-2 with the 5th best passing game in the country on the heels of a 565 yard passing performance versus Morgan State. The Zips were defeated by UCF and FIU in the first two weeks and were completely outclassed versus the Knights of Central Florida. Tennessee is the best team that the Zips have played this season with an explosive passing attack led by quarterback Tyler Bray. The Volunteers are angry after underperforming versus Florida last week. Expect Tennessee to come out angry and take an early lead cruising to a 35-10 win over the Zips.

5:00 PM Wyoming at Idaho: The pillowfight game of the week. The Wyoming Cowboys are a shell of themselves without quarterback Brett Smith and if he is unable to play, this game could get quite ugly to watch. Smith is currently a game day decision and him playing could be the difference between a big win and a close win over Idaho. Whether Smith plays or not, the Cowboys should come out on top but it will be close without him. Wyoming 34-20.
