Game previews: Memphis, FIU, Utah State, Colorado State, Southern Miss, and WKU

6:00 PM Memphis at Duke: There is national debate that Memphis is the worst team in the nation and would struggle to compete on the FCS level with the current team. The Tigers are 0-3 with a loss to FCS member UT Martin in the season opener. Memphis is 82nd or worse nationally in passing offense, rushing offense, scoring offense, and scoring defense. Duke is 2-1 with only a loss to Stanford being a blemish on their record. The passing attack of the Blue Devils is way too much for Memphis to handle and the Tigers will go down big yet again. Duke 49-7.

7:00 PM No. 20 Louisville at Florida International: With Florida International struggling at 1-2 and easily dispatched by both Duke and UCF, playing #20 is a tough matchup even at home. The Golden Panthers will struggle to stop the Cardinal attack led by quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. The Cardinals are 3-0 but played very sloppily in nearly getting upset by North Carolina last week. Expect the Cardinals to take control of the game early and do to Florida International something similar to what Duke did to the Golden Panthers. Louisville 44-28.

7:00 PM Utah State at Colorado State: After a tough loss in a game that the Utah State Aggies really should have won, the Aggies must put the past behind them for a trip to MWC member Colorado State. The Colorado State Rams are 1-2 with their only win coming versus a horrible Colorado squad in the season opener. Everything sets up for the balanced offense of Utah State to control the Rams and cruise to an easy win. The only hope for Colorado State is the Utah State struggles to get over the loss last week and lets it affect their play with miscues Saturday night. Utah State 40-14.

7:00 PM Southern Miss at Western Kentucky: This is a matchup between Southern Miss of Conference USA and Western Kentucky of the Sun Belt. Southern Miss is going into this game at 0-2 with one of the poorest passing attacks in the nation. The Golden Eagles pass for 154 per game and only rush for 138 making them the 112th ranked offensive team in the nation. The defense has not been much better giving up 36.5 points per game but only 24 to East Carolina last week. Western Kentucky enters this game at 2-1 on the heels of a thrilling 32-31 overtime win over SEC foe Kentucky Saturday night. The Hilltoppers do not stand out on offense with the 67th ranked passing offense and the 76th ranked rushing offense in the country. Some of those stats are stilted slightly with a game versus #1 Alabama added to the stats. The WKU defense is currently the #17 ranked defense in the nation giving up only 285 yards per game with two games versus SEC opponents. The Hilltoppers seem to be the much better team in this matchup and have much more experience than the Golden Eagles in addition to home field advantage. WKU should be able to roll on with the momentum of last week's win and get to 3-1 for the first time as a FBS team. WKU 31-21.
