Independent Saturday Recaps

Independents:

Wake Forest 49, Army 37: Scoring 37 points and totaling over 500 yards of offense, the Army Black Knights saw another poor defensive performance result in yet another loss, this time 49-37 to Wake Forest. Army ran for 429 yards with both Maples and Dixon going for over 100 yards but 517 yards allowed to the Demon Deacons never gave Army a chance at the win. The Black Knights fall to 0-3 with a home game versus FCS opponent Stony Brook Saturday afternoon at West Point.

Navy 41, Virginia Military Institute 3: Needing a win desperately after two early wins, the Naval Academy got a much needed confidence boost in a 41-3 win over VMI Saturday. The Midshipmen totaled 510 yards of offense with 407 coming on the ground led by Copeland and Miller both breaking the 100-yards plateau. Navy found the endzone on defense with a 7-yard pick six by Matt Warrick to make the game 34-3. Navy improves to 1-2 with a visit from San Jose State coming Saturday afternoon.
