Week 6 Preview: East Carolina versus Central Florida

Thursday, October 4
8:00 PM East Carolina at UCF:
This is a Conference USA matchup between division foes East Carolina and Central Florida. East Carolina enters this game at 3-2 on the season with a sparkling 2-0 conference record on the season. The Pirates haven't been the most efficient offensive team with 345 yards of offense per game and only 20.6 points per game good for the 15th worst scoring offense in the nation. The Pirates have been solid on defense giving up over 20 points in only two games (48 versus South Carolina, 27 versus North Carolina). Taking out those two games, the defense has held opponents to only 15 points per game in the three wins. Central Florida enters this game at 2-2 on the season with losses coming to Ohio State and Missouri and wins coming over opponents that are a combined 2-8 on the year. The Knights have been close in both of their losses but allowed mental errors and bad positioning to take those upset opportunities away. This is the 12th overall meeting between the two schools with ECU holding a 9-2 overall series edge all-time. As far as talent, UCF is the better team but with two conference wins already but ECU can put themselves in great position to win the East Division with a win over the Knights. ECU fights hard but falls short not being able to slow down the UCF running game. UCF 27-20.
