Week 7 Preview: SMU versus Tulane

Saturday, October 13
1:00 PM Southern Methodist at Tulane:

This is a Conference USA meeting between the Southern Methodist Mustangs and the Tulane Green Wave. SMU enters this game at 2-3 on the season but a perfect 1-0 in Conference USA action. The Mustangs have a good passing game but have been incredibly disappointing on the ground with preseason Conference USA running back Zach Line only having 429 yards on the year. Line has averaged 1350 yards per season in the two previous years at SMU. SMU is average on defense giving up big points versus top competition while playing well versus the bottom teams with 2 shutouts. Tulane enters this game at 0-5 on the season and is being outscored by a staggering 33 points per game on the year. After 5 games, the Green Wave have not even averaged 15 yards on the ground per game. This game has all the ingredients to get very ugly very quickly. Tulane hold a 12-8 overall series lead over SMU but has lost the last three games to the Mustangs. Expect more of the same ugly football from Tulane after being outscored 212-45 in the first 5 games of the season. SMU big to the tune of 48-7.
