Overall Breakdown: The San Diego State Aztecs picked up from a nice 2010 season with an easy win versus Cal Poly showing off one of the most balanced offenses in the country. The Aztecs had 203 yards passing and 4 touchdowns behind senior quarterback Ryan Lindley and 289 yards rushing with 189 of that coming from sophomore All-American candidate Ronnie Hillman. The defense struggled a bit giving up 21 points including 14 in the second quarter. The Army Black Knights took one on the chin in their season opener losing 49-26 in a game that was actually worse than the final score indicated. The offense had a statistically impressive 409 total yards with 303 coming on the ground led by junior running back Malcolm Brown’s 9 rushes for 92 yards and a touchdown. The Army defense gave up over 500 total yards and 5 passing touchdowns in the season opener. The week 2 visit by San Diego State will be just as difficult of an assignment for the Black Knights facing an offense that was 16^th in the nation in 2010 and returns the same quarterback and running back combination from last season. Army will struggle again on defense in this week 2 match up and could be looking at an 0-2 start with back to back blowout losses to start the season.
